Conference Speaker: Łukasz Bielecki, PhD
Łukasz Bielecki is a biochemist from Poznan, Poland, where he works in the Institute of Bioorganic Chemistry of the Polish Academy of Sciences.
Łukasz is also a licensed tour guide in the Poznan region and is one of the founders of Discovering Roots, a company in Poland whose goal is to assist those researching their Polish ancestry.
His personal family roots are mostly from the region of Wielkopolska (“Greater Poland”), also known under its German name Provinz Posen.
Łukasz created one of the first internet guides to researching Polish genealogy.
Łukasz is also involved with the Poznań Marriage Indexing Project which helps descendants of those who left the Poznan area in the 19th century to identify the actual town or parish their ancestors came from. Documents from that time rarely contained any information more specific than the vague term “Posen”.
The United Polish Genealogical Societies Conference will be held Friday, April 18 through Monday, April 21, 2008 at the Best Western Salt Lake Plaza Hotel in Salt Lake City, Utah. The tentative schedule has been posted. The final schedule will be posted when available. Registration is now open online and by mail.
Dear Lukasz:
Can you please tell me if you will be available for translations of Polish into English letters at the Conference in 2008? What will the charge be if any?
I have many letters that need to be translated (about 30) and need to know the price and time it would take to do this task.
Thank you,
Betty

Too bad Lukasz will not be in person. He is my 6th cousin once removed. I still plan on attending.
I live in West Valley Utah and have been helping him with the Poznan project.
